Reality Check - Market fluctuations

Each turn in Future Financiers is another day, bringing new adjustments in the stock price, just as in real life.

The type of investing in Future Financiers is closer to day trading, where investors rapidly change positions to maximize return.  In real life, many succesful investors typically hold their positions for longer periods of time.  The term is "value investing", and is advocated by Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway.  His philosophy is to invest in a company as if the stock market were to close for 10 years.

In addition, the day-to-day price fluctuations are greatly exaggerated.  While large daily changes do occur, they are the exception rather than the rule.  Most stocks rise or fall only a few percent over the course of a month or more - rarely in a day!
